Since 2017, the small village of Saanen in the Bernese Oberland has been offering a public day dedicated to vintage cars and music.

Thanks to a group of volunteers motivated by the passion for beautiful cars, music, the beauty and heritage of their village and a desire to promote their region, came the idea of combining a passion that is widespread in the Confederation, the collection of Oldtimers, with an important Swiss cultural tradition: music. Thus was born the first edition of Saanen's Classic Cars and Music.

Once again this year, thanks to the support of generous sponsors, a group of donors, the "Friends of Classic Cars and Music", and not to mention the strong motivation of my team, we are pleased to announce that the Third Edition of the Classic Cars and Music of Saanen will take place on Saturday August 10, 2019 at 11:30 am in the heart of the village of Saanen.

The 2019 edition is meant to be educational. We will transform our village into an open-air automobile museum. Indeed, the passer-by will be able to register for a guided tour with our automobile specialist and resident of Saanen M. Rölli.

The exhibition focuses on vehicles from the early 20th century to the late 1960s and will take place until the evening.

Another special feature of this 3rd edition is that the vehicles will cross the village of Gstaad on Friday, August 9th, in the late afternoon (16h45) to give a glimpse of Saturday’s exhibition.

American brands will be well represented this year, with a Cord 812, a technological beast from the 1930s, which had not been able to be present last year, will finally be viewed this year, as well as a Ford Mustang GT Fast Back from 1965 in pristine conditions, a magnificent Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Split Window from 1963...these are some examples of cars that you will be  able to admire.

All the cars on display belong to members of automobile clubs all over Switzerland but also to friends from the Saanenland who are lovers of vintage cars. All of them are happy to share with us for a day, their love of mechanics and beautiful cars.

As far as music is concerned, the Musicians of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival do us the honour of returning this year, in small ensembles scattered in the pedestrian street to share with us their passion for classical music.

In the afternoon, we are delighted to meet again the Macadam Jazz Band from last year, who, depending on their mood and that of the audience, will make us swing between the cars.

The mime, Roberto Gerbolès, a former student of the Clown Dimitri, is also back with his silent strolls through the street.

For the youngest ones, the Discovery Program offered by the Menuhin Festival with Anne Christine Cettou at the helm, will once again lead the musical workshop for children aged 7 to 12.

This event, offered free of charge to visitors of all ages, will delight both vintage car enthusiasts and music lovers. You will of course find something to satisfy your taste buds among the many stands, bakeries and restaurants in the village with a local speciality or a more exotic menu.
